Film Trailer

(FYI to all you American Idol fans, the film - and this trailer - showcases a beautiful song called "Everlasting," written, recorded, and produced specifically for the documentary by the talented Justin Guarini, Season 1)

About the Film

Jason Miller and Mat Boggs present to you a documentary film from the heart, featuring an unforgettable collection of material culled from the 100+ hours of adventure and Marriage Master interviews that led up to their nationwide interview tour of 2006.*

“Project Everlasting: The Search for America’s Greatest Marriages Begins!”

Like the book, this film is one part Bachelors, one part Marriage Masters, all inspiration and insight (and entertainment, to boot!). With an enchanting soundtrack featuring acclaimed musical artist Justin Guarini, and classic When Harry Met Sally-styled couples telling all about the “Better” and the “Worse” of lifelong marriage, this film is the perfect wedding and anniversary gift for couples on either end of the “relational maturity” spectrum.

Meet Ruth & Eddie Elcott!

Film Outline

The Inspiration In this segment, taken from the bachelors’ first footage ever shot for Project Everlasting in 2004, it’ll take all of two minutes to see the contrast between the bachelors’ approaches to this mission. This is a behind-the-scenes look into an original brainstorming session with Grandma Dorothy, the inspiration for the mission.

Marriage Master Series: Ruth & Eddie Ruth & Eddie, married 63 years, don’t have much to say about relationships. Right. As one of Mat and Jason’s first interviews—and most dynamic—they are the first Marriage Master couple to make this point clear: a blissful marriage is not always pure peace and harmony. Their now-famous video clip, featured on The Today Show and CNN, has Ruth quipping, “People ask me, ‘Did I ever think about Divorce?’ The answer I give them—and I mean it—is:

The Quality of Questions The bachelors introduce an impressive collection of marital concerns and explain how they chose to structure the book around high-quality questions.

Marriage Master Series: Mim & Sherman “I say turn left, he turns right,” Mim says, “I know he’s wrong, but that’s ok because I’ve just learned to overlook a lot of stuff.” “Fight On for Mim and Sherm” became the anniversary song for the Andelsons, married over 60 years, a tribute to their unique ability to disagree on just about everything—and yet still look at each other like two kids who just fell in love for the first time.

Marriage is a Roller Coaster After a hilarious montage of bickering one-liners from various Marriage Master interviews, Mat and Jason express how necessary it was for them to learn the real definition of Commitment in matrimony.

Marriage Master Series: Dean & Leone “I kept wanting us to go to a counselor so the counselor could straighten [my wife] out,” Dean admits in this ultra-candid interview. “I really thought the separation was going to lead to divorce.” After coping with Dean’s alcoholism for over two decades, Leone got blindsided with Dean’s announcement the day after their 30th wedding anniversary: “I’m moving out,” he said. Now 42 years into their everlasting marriage, they explain with utmost sincerity how a fractured relationship returns to respect, acceptance, and, in the end, love.

Love Mementos. Mat and Jason highlight the interviews, the people, and the moments along the journey that have changed their lives and relationship beliefs for the better and forever.

Marriage Master Series: Joe & Millie A vivacious and adorable widow named Millie Rozich cuddles up on the couch with Mat and Jason to share her love mementos from a beautiful marriage that spanned 65 years before Joe passed away. Get your tissues handy, this interview shows why a lifelong marriage is a very, very worthwhile ambition.

The Search for America’s Greatest Marriages Begins! In the final segment of the film, Jason and Mat take you on the rollercoaster ride that took them up to the launch of their nationwide interview tour of 2006. From losing their book agent (“She calls us and says, “You guys, this book proposal is…not very good.”) to losing their minds trying to figure out how to pay for a 12,000-mile, four-month, $70,000 road trip, you’ll get a fast-paced look at all the drama that nearly squashed the bachelors’ dreams to make the Project Everlasting book a reality.

What People Are Saying About the Film

“My emotions are all over the place and I don’t really know what to say without sounding cheesy. But…I absolutely loved the film, you guys. My girlfriend is going to see a better me for now on…”
~Andrew

“Thank you for making my ‘relationship’ gift shopping so much easier. Every time I get invited to a wedding or bridal shower, I just go to your website and order the Project Everlasting film. For this, you can forever consider me your #1 fan!”
~Darcy

“I got the DVD in the mail on Tuesday (that was quick, thanks!) It was exactly what my soul needed that day. First a confession. I originally found out about the documentary because I'm a fan of Justin Guarini & I love the song he did for the trailer. (So, thank you so much for using two of his songs on the soundtrack! Actually, I loved the whole soundtrack, very nice.) So Justin kind of hooked me, but the subject matter of the DVD really reeled me in.”
~Maureen

* IMPORTANT NOTE: Ranging from 2003 to June 2006, Mat and Jason interviewed roughly one hundred Marriage Masters, mostly all on the West Coast. In July of 2006, they boarded an RV and traveled across the entire nation for The Search for America’s Greatest Marriages Interview Tour. This film, “The Search for America’s Greatest Marriages Begins!” is the first of many to come from Project Everlasting and contains ONLY the material from the first hundred interviews, so if you are a Marriage Master who met the bachelors in the summer of 2006, you will not find any of your interview material in this film (you can sign up for the bachelors’ free newsletter, Love Notes, to keep up-to-date on new developments for the next film!)
